Editorial Policy & Standards
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Broker Pro Academy publishes educational guides for people who want to become licensed freight brokers and run a home-based 3PL brokerage in the United States. Because our readers make real business and compliance decisions based on this material, we hold every guide to the standards below.
Who writes our content
Our guides are produced by the broker pro academy editorial team: freight-brokerage educators who research, write, and review each article. We attribute content to our editorial team rather than inventing individual personas or overstated credentials. When we describe income, timelines, or results, we frame them as ranges and illustrative examples, never guarantees.
How we research and source
Our regulatory and compliance guidance is grounded in primary sources, including:
- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for broker authority, the BMC-84 bond, BOC-3, and registration requirements
- The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) for industry standards and best practices
- Official government fee schedules and filing forms, cited directly where relevant
Where we cite a specific dollar amount, form number, or legal requirement, we tie it to the governing source so you can verify it yourself.
Fact-checking & review
Before publishing, each guide is reviewed for regulatory accuracy against current FMCSA rules and for internal consistency (for example, that costs, timelines, and math agree across the article). We prioritize being correct over being fast, and we would rather omit a claim than publish one we cannot support.
Keeping content current
Freight regulations, fees, and market conditions change. We review our core licensing and compliance guides on a recurring basis and update them when requirements change. Each article shows a “last updated” date so you know how current it is. A date does not guarantee a rule has not changed since, which is why we always link back to primary sources.
Independence & transparency
Broker Pro Academy sells a one-time $39 freight-broker course, and many guides link to it. Our educational content is written to be genuinely useful on its own, and our recommendations are not influenced by third-party advertisers. We do not accept payment to feature or endorse outside products or services within our guides.
Corrections
If you spot an error, we want to fix it. Email support@brokerproacademy.com with the page and the issue, and we will review and correct verified inaccuracies promptly.
Not legal advice
Our content is educational and does not constitute legal, financial, or tax advice. Licensing and compliance requirements vary by situation and change over time. Verify requirements with the FMCSA and, where appropriate, consult a qualified professional before making decisions.
